Dr. Renee Laliberte

Dr. Renee Laliberte has been practicing optometry since graduating with honors from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1997. She recieved her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Windsor. Dr. Laliberte completed three externships each providing a fundamental base for practicing primary care full scope optometry. The externships included Beaumont Hospital specializing in low vision and contact lenses, the Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson Michigan, emphasizing ocular disease management and the Saginaw Special Needs Clinic focusing on pediatric care and low vision needs.

Dr. Laliberte received the Wesley Jessen Contact Lens Fitting Award upon graduation for proficiency in contact lens fitting. She specializes in bifocal and monovision contacts for those with near vision needs. Dr. Laliberte has an honest, straight forward approach to practicing optometry. Her belief is that every patient has the right to know exactly what is going on with their eyes and all the options available to them whether it includes glasses, contact lenses, vision therapy or surgery.

Dr. Renee Laliberte’s Qualifications and Memberships

Dr. Laliberte is a proud member of the Michigan Optometric Association and the  American Optometric Association. Main Street Optometry and Dr Laliberte are members of  Visionsource. North America’s Premier Network of Private Practice Optometrists

She has taken part in humanitarian endeavors abroad such as her VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity) mission to Honduras during which she provided free eye exams and glasses to the local people in need. She and her husband enjoy traveling, skiing, scuba diving and spending time with their two daughters.

Dr. Amanda Himmel

Dr Amanda Himmel was born and raised in Essexville, Michigan, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saginaw Valley State University in 2015 with a Bachelors of Biology.  She then graduated with honors from Michigan College of Optometry in 2019. While there, she completed three externship rotations, one with a focus on primary care and contact lenses at Andersen Eye Associates in Saginaw, Michigan; one a combination between vision therapy and pediatrics at WOW Vision Therapy, and post-operative care and specialty contact lenses at Great Lakes Eye Care in St. Joseph, Michigan, and one at the Saginaw VA center with a focus on ocular disease and low vision care.

Dr Himmel was also the co-liason for the contact lens and anterior segment club, secretary for the public health student association, and web coordinator for the Michigan Optometric Private Practice Association, and participated on a mission trip to Honduras to provide eye care and glasses to over 900 patients.

Dr Himmel is a proud member of the Michigan Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and spends her time baking, running, traveling and spending time with her fiance and their two cats.

Penny Karrick – Optician

My name is Penny Karrick. I have the pleasure of working for Dr. Laliberte at Main Street Optometry in Dexter Michigan. I have been doing optician work for over 30 years. The best part of my job is making our patients look GREAT in their new eyewear. I am married, have two grown children and two beautiful grandchildren. I enjoy being a grandma. I like to sew in my spare time.

Colleen Kreshock – Optician

My name is Colleen Kreshock and I have been in the optical field for over 20 years. I have been at Main Street Optometry for over 3 years. I enjoy helping people select eyewear to meet their everyday needs. I especially enjoy the kids when they pick up their first pair of glasses and can see everything clearly for the first time.

Rachel Miller – Optometric Technician

My name is Rachel Miller and I have been with Main Street Optometry since 2009. I enjoy being the Optometric Technician in both Pinckney and Dexter. Getting to know each patient that walks in the door is what I like most about my job. My husband and I got married in 2012 and live a quiet life in the country. I have a love of musicals, chicken noodle soup and our Black Labrador Retriever named Dolly.

Shari Waltersdorf – Optometric Technician

My name is Shari Waltersdorf and I have been working for Dr. Laliberte since 2011 as an Optometric Technician. I work in both the Dexter and Pinckney offices, so you never know where you might find me! My husband and I have been married for 25 years and we have three children, two in college and one in high school. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching our son play college football and playing with our recently adopted dog.

Karrie Kolb – Practice Administrator

My name is Karrie Kolb. I have been with Main Street Optometry since March of 2006. I am the Practice Administrator and work behind the scenes maintaining inventory, providing computer support and also fill in and help wherever I’m needed. I’ve also been known to belly dance and eat Jolly Ranchers – but not always at the same time. I am happily married with three sons, a couple cats and a dog. Due to my love of exotic cats, and my two spoiled Savannah cats, I’ve often been called the Crazy Cat Lady.

Karen Carpenter – Billing & Receivables Specialist

My name is Karen Carpenter. I joined Main Street Optometry in 2008. I am your Billing/Receivables Specialist. You may not recognize me because my office is located on the executive level in Dexter; however, I am always available to assist you. When not at work I enjoy boating, floating, reading watching movies and laughing. My favorite pastime is spending time with my friends and family.
